Overview

Sonwil Distribution Center, Inc. is a family-owned third party logistics company. Based in Western New York for over 65 years, Sonwil provides storage, handling, distribution, value added services, refurbishment, and reverse logistics solutions to its regional, national, and international clients. The company’s headquarters and main operations site are strategically located adjacent to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Currently we provide one million square feet of public warehousing. In June, 2008 we opened an additional 300,000 square foot facility adjacent to the CSX Intermodal Center on Buffalo’s waterfront. A second 300,000 square foot facility is site ready and scheduled for construction within the year.

Sonwil provides its 3PL services to a broad range of industries and companies in times of growth or recession, and has significant experience in the food, medical, retail, paper, automotive, and small appliance segments. Its facilities accommodate truck and rail transport modes with private rail siding, easy street access, and extensive docking bays.

Sonwil Distribution Center, Inc. is a member of the IWLA (International Warehouse Logistics Association). Our sanitation programs meet or exceed all local, state and federal regulations. We also have our own New York State licensed, in-house sanitation manager, a highly trained staff, and strict maintenance procedures.

Sonwil also provides independently operated transportation logistics services through its TCS division, and owns, develops, and operates two commercial centers through a separately managed real estate division.

History

Sonwil began operation in 1941 at 290 Larkin Street in Buffalo, New York. It operated at that location until 1966 when it purchased 38 acres adjacent to the Buffalo Airport and constructed a new warehouse facility and headquarters.

In September 1996, Sonwil acquired an additional 25 acre parcel adjoining the Airport location, and constructed a 41,000 square foot development on it. The remaining land has been developed and the mixed use commercial park is operated as Sonwil's International Airport Centre.

In September of 2007, the firm contracted to purchase 54 acres in Buffalo’s Lakeside Commerce Park on which it built a 300,000 square foot distribution center. The site is strategically located near the CSX Intermodal Center. Sonwil’s facility will be the largest in the park, and underscores the company’s commitment to the WNY Region and the city of Buffalo.
